About Us

Our aim is to provide a space where young people and students with an interest in green politics can meet, discuss and campaign. We are part of the Young Greens (the youth wing of the Green Party of England and Wales) and incorporate the University of York Green Party.

The University of York Green Party was founded on campus towards the end of 2010 and this blog was started a year later. We are currently focusing on promoting the activities of the University of York Green Party more widely across the city. The University of York Green Party organise big-name speakers, political poetry nights and various other events. These events are open to everyone – you do not need to be a University of York student or a member of York Young Greens. To keep up to date with the events, visit the University of York Green Party events page on Facebook or follow the University of York Green Party on Twitter – visit the ‘Contact Us‘ page for details.

York Green Party has an elected Young Greens Liaison Officer, Andy Law, to aid with our development and provide representation of our needs to the wider party. You can get in contact with Andy via the main York Young Greens email address on the ‘Contact Us‘ page.

We do not yet have a formal committee structure as a city-wide organisation so as we grow and develop there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved at all levels. If you are interested in getting involved further or kickstarting some more centrally-located events then get in contact via the details on the ‘Contact Us‘ page.
