Caroline Lucas MP supports the UoY Living Wage Campaign

Bit of a belated post for this but thought it still deserved to be put out there nevertheless.

At Green Party spring conference, on 24th February 2012 in Liverpool, Caroline Lucas MP and Green Party leader signed a pledge of support for the living wage campaign at the University of York.

The Green Party is a longstanding supporter of a living wage and has campaigned hard on the London Assembly to get a living wage introduced.

In the recent Brighton and Hove budget (set by the ruling minority Green Administration) the Green Group managed to find space to pay all council employees a living wage. They will work to see how that can be extended to companies undertaking council contracts – where pay is often lower and unions often weaker.

Here’s a photo of Caroline declaring her support with UoY Green Party chair, Lisa Camps.
